36 Litre Cross Beam Fruit Press - 91305

For a larger home production or smaller scale commercial cider mill or vineyard.

The 36 litre crossbeam press is a much larger and more substantial version of its 20 litre counterpart. Much like the 20 litre it is a traditional fruit press that uses a screw with a built in ratchet mechanism and a crossbeam for additional support and much greater pressing power. It has a much greater hourly output (see more detailed specs below) and is suitable for those with a with a good number of fruiting trees or even a commercial producer on a smaller scale.

The 36 litre crossbeam fruit press features:

  • 29kg/70lbs fruit capacity which will yield up to 12.5 litres/22 pints of juice per pressing or 37.5 litres/66 pints per hour. This is based on 3 pressings per hour which should be easily achievable with a bit of practise.
  • Ratchet mechanism for ease of use – Pressing your fruit now requires much less effort!
  • Lockable crossbeam makes the unit incredibly durable. It is hinged and can be swung over, allowing both our Classic and Economy crushers to fit on top for milling fruit directly into the press cage.
  • Hinged press cage that can be raised with the cranking handle for easy removal of crushed fruit after pressing.
  • Quality construction from cast iron, steel and solid beech for a press that will last a lifetime. The welded steel frame is protected by a tough polyester coating and is finished in an attractive, food safe green paint.

The press can be used for apples but will also work for any soft seeded fruit like grapes, pears, raspberries, strawberries and more. This makes it suitable for winemakers with smaller vineyards as well as cider producers.

We have a straining bag available for this press to give clearer juice with less mess. Click here to purchase.

Swing the hinged cross beam off the press. Line the press cage with a straining bag (optional; available separately) overlapping the side of the press. If using Crusher A or the Economy Crusher (available separately) to mill the apples, locate the crusher on top, mill the apples directly into the press until it is brimful, and remove the crusher. If using the Centrifugal Mill (available separately) mill the apples and pour the crushed apples directly into the press until it is brimful.

Fold the edges of the press bag to cover the pomace making a parcel. Place the pressure plate and bearing block onto the crushed fruit within the press cage, swing cross beam back into position lining the screw up with metal bearing. Place the handle in the slot and use a ratchet mechanism to lower the pressure plate. The juice will soon flow down through the press staves into the juice tray, ready for collection. Collect the juice in a food-grade bucket, ready for freezing, pasteurisation or irresistible instant drinking.

Easy to clean, simply hose down with fresh water after use and dry with a clean cloth. Lubricate the non-food contact metal parts with food grade grease; this will also inhibit corrosion of these parts. Store in a clean, dry place.

  • All wood from sustainable forest plantations, seasoned and coated with food-compatible varnish
