What makes us special
What we do
If you’re an avid cider lover then you may have been thinking about creating your own from the comfort of your own home. There are numerous products you will need in order to achieve this, including crushers, pasteurisers and more. We’ve put together some of our favourite products to help you create fruity and delicious homemade cider.
Crusher
The ideal crusher needs to be robust, efficient and easy to use, and all of our purpose built crushers are just that. These machines work quickly on the fruit in order to produce a consistency that is ideal for pressing. Our Pulpmaster crushers are ideal for smaller presses, but where presses over 9.5 litres are needed, we would highly recommend one of our electric mills for optimum results.
Presses
Every press featured on Vigo Presses is made from the highest quality and is extremely easy to use, robust and fantastically designed. The presses we offer have been created for a lifetime of use. Whether you want a small and dainty 4.5 litre press or a larger 50 litre press with a higher hourly output, we’ve got them all. The Rack & Cloth and Hydropress presses are ideal for use with electric mills, as they can produce a higher yield than the basket presses.
Fermentation Containers
You’ll need a minimum of two fermentation containers for successful cider production. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, we have the best range of fermenting equipment. Our range starts from the small 5 litre PET bottle right up to the 500 litre Speidel tanks for large amounts of fermenting. For those who want to ferment cider for a longer period of time, the Speidel 30 litre fermenter is ideal, though it is recommended that the cider is fermented in as large quantities as possible.
We offer purpose-built pasteurisers for fruit juices, sweet cider and preserving fruit. Our stainless steel, digital pasteuriser has an adjustable digital thermostat and timer for accuracy and easy use. It holds around 10 litres of cider and also includes a grid to sit bottles and bags on to ensure a good circulation of water and safe pasteurisation. Pasteurising your cider can make a huge difference to the storing length of time. Fresh cider can store in the fridge for around 2 to 3 days, whereas pasteurised cider can last for around two years.
There are also some other products that are needed when cider making from home, such as a hydrometer and hydrometer jar in order to measure sugar and alcohol content. These are used throughout the fermenting process and can tell you when the cider is ready!
Optional products can also help with the creation of your cider, such as yeast, campden tablets and bottles or packaging for once your cider is ready to be stored and enjoyed!
