What makes us special
Pears & Grapes
Our presses can be used for apples, pears and grapes. Juice extraction via pressing is best for these fruits. This method preserves the fresh, bright taste of fruit newly harvested. As with apples, these fruits need to be prepared before pressing. The skins of grapes will need to be broken; this can be done by pounding them in a bucket with a length of clean timber or, if large quantities are to be pressed they can easily be crushed by our gentle hand-operated grape crusher.
Berry Fruits
Berry fruits such as blackberries, raspberries and elderberries can also be pressed. The cross beam presses, which can be lined with a straining bag, are best suited for these fruits, as fruit seeds can be strained out of the juice via the bag during the pressing process.
Currants, Stoned Fruits, Hard Fruits & Other Berries
Extracting juice from currants (blackcurrants, redcurrants and whitecurrants), stoned fruits such as damsons, plums & sloes, hard fruits (crab apples & quinces) and berries (blueberries and loganberries), is best done via the hot juice extraction method using one of our steamers. This method enhances the flavour of all these fruits juices. Refreshing fruit pressés can be made by blending juices made with the steamer with apple juice. These steamers are perfect for making cordials in one easy pass by layering the fruits with sugar in the steamer basket.
